This division of the business has been developed to enable us to tell the stories that matter mainly from the perspective of the UAE.
We are open, however, to new and exciting ideas for development from all over the globe. The documentary division develops, produces and assists with fundraising for documentaries in various stages of production and development.
The chief focus, however, is to develop and produce in-house films that will add on to D-SEVEN's filmography and effectively incubate the art of documentary filmmaking in the UAE.
Please get in touch with us if you are interested in learning about our productions and the ways in which you can support us or if you have any ideas for development. We also offer our services to those who require any production support and/or management for their own documentary project(s).
Nayla and her team recently pitched for the first big budget UAE feature documentary on Professional Polo and won the deal. The project is currently in post-production and is titled ‘HIGH GOAL’. The film follows the careers of brothers Rashid and Mohamed Al Habtoor as well as their manager Justo Del Carril on their journey to the top of the polo world. It was filmed in four different cities around the world.
Presently, D-SEVEN is involved in the production of three other documentaries in various stages of development, namely:
‘A Portrait of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum: A Pioneering Visionary’
Currently in the development and research stages of production, this documentary film is a visually stunning look at the life of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, father of the present ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The premise will be an in-depth look into his life, humanity and inspirational milestones as ruler of Dubai and respected authority throughout the UAE. This is a co-production with French production company, Artline Films.
'The Dhaka Project & I: A Journey of Selflessness'
The account of The Dhaka Project is an important human interest story that is refreshingly linked to a young and compassionate woman based in Dubai. This woman, Maria Conceicao, founded the organisation in 2005 after a trip to Dhaka on Emirates Airlines where she works as an in-flight attendant. The widespread poverty and deprivation in the Bangladeshi capital struck a chord in Maria, sparking the journey that she is still on today. Her efforts have seen funds raised that help The Dhaka Project supply vital resources and skills training to countless children and their families. We are in the process of securing funding for this film, all visualisations and creative concepts have been finalised.
‘Saving Swat’
For this project, D-SEVEN, is involved purely as Executive Producer. This heart-gripping documentary is already in development and some of the filming has already begun. It is being produced and directed by the American based production company, DawnBreaker Films. We are assisting the production team in raising funds for this film. The film follows the lives of young Pakistani men as they go through rehabilitation and adjust to their ‘new’ lives after leaving The Taliban where they had been kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming enemy combatants and in most cases suicide bombers.
D-SEVEN offers a full array of production services including Feature
