We prefer to produce short films but other visual productions are welcome too. For example: Music videos, documentaries and in few cases feature length films.

1) What is BLOOM! Cine Startups?
BLOOM is a consortium of like minded people who have come together to share their skills and knowledge with the UAE’s independent film market. We believe that, specifically, the quality of short films in the region can be greatly improved given the right level of support which in turn brings more attention to local film production.
BLOOM! Cine Startups is primarily catered towards independent film makers who need to produce high end films for the best possible price. BLOOM! Cine Startups will provide staggering discounts in return for a long term relationship with film makers, discovering new talent, and promoting budding film makers in the UAE.
2) Who can apply for BLOOM! Cine Startups?
Anyone above the age of 18 who is passionate about film making, we accept applications from amateurs to professionals and create a custom production road map that fits their requirements best. We prefer to produce short films but other visual productions are welcome too. For example: Music videos, documentaries and in few cases feature length films.
3) What is the minimum budget for BLOOM! Cine Startups to produce your film?
30,000 AED will be our lowest budget for a short film project. That will include complete pre-production, a one day shoot, on digital, in three locations and full post-production facilities. This is a very tight budget and not many services can be provided under it, nevertheless a high-end slick production of 8 to 10 minutes will be produced. We believe this is a good package for a first timer and is catered more towards students and/or fresh graduates.
Other budgets for services, which include original score, music copyrighting, high end animated opening titles, high end cameras etc…will fall in the range of AED 55,000 to AED 300,000 (depending on the project). We will need to look at each script and assess it separately, each film maker will be taken through the complete budget breakdown process to see where and how the (50-70%) discounts are allocated.
All these rates are possible due to our partners providing the consortium with affordable rates, while maintaining the best possible production quality and standards.

5) Do we secure funds for your project?
We do not directly secure funds for your film but we can guide you to the right available grants/sponsors locally and internationally that will help you fund your project. Our first film titled, Marweya, was funded by a sponsor sourced by the film makers. BLOOM was hired by the film makers to assist with locking the deal by creating a production booklet and a thorough marketing plan for the sponsor. This was done in a span of two weeks and we were able to successfully achieve our target. This service is charged on a daily rate and will differ on a project-to-project basis.
6) Why BLOOM! Cine Startups?
The UAE has many film directors but hardly any producers to help create and market good films. We are here to fill that gap. We also DO NOT interfere in the director’s vision, we will give advice, but in the end, it’s the director’s final word. We DO NOT own film rights - these belong entirely to the film maker - we are simply service providers. If you are a writer and want us to source a director for you we can do that as well. First time directors will be guided properly throughout the process to give them maximum confidence.
7) Who would be our best candidate?
Our ideal candidate would be a serious and enthusiastic film maker with a first draft script who wants BLOOM! Cine Startups support from A-Z. You walk in with a script and in a few weeks or months walk out with a film.
8) How many films do we accept per year?
We accept between 5 to 7 projects a year depending on their respective production time lines and our schedules.
